Border Crossing to Zambia
The border post near Wanella lies 4 km north of Katima Mulilo. On the Zambia side it is called Sesheke. The required visa are issued at the fee of 25 USD directly at the border post. The 900 metre long bridge across the Zambesi river was opened in 2004. The road to Livingstone at the Victoria Falls is tarred. Drive slowly, there are lots of potholes! The 193 km trip from Sesheke to Livingstone can easily take 3 to 4 hours. The roads in Zambia are generally bad, particularly in the rainy season. A 4x4 is advisable.
Victoria Falls Zimbabwe
Who wants to get to the Victoria Falls, can still go via Botswana (border post at Ngoma Bridge) and Kasane to Zimbabwe. But one should expect a longer wait at the borders. Fill up your tank in Botswana before you enter Zimbabwe. More Information on the Victoria Falls pages. |
