Even if the temptation to jump into one of the wonderful rockpools becomes irresistible: Be very cautious, there are crocodiles in the river! One can't always spot them. Recently some Himba children have fallen victim to the voracious reptiles.

Camping
At the falls there are a couple of campgrounds. The Epupa campsite is basic, but clean. Stunningly beautiful is the Omarunga Camp right at the river. There a visit to a Himba settlement is offered. Airstrip in the vicinity. Restaurant.

Epupa Trails
The Epupa Trails are rewarding. On marked trails one can explore the attractive scenery, flora and fauna of the Epupa area in the company of a knowledgeable guide. The Kachira Trail takes 4 hours and finishes with a visit to a Himba settlement. The Crocodile Trail, also about 4 hours, runs along the Kunene river. The shortest one is the Epupa Trail. It concentrates on the waterfalls and only takes 1.5 hours. The fee is small and benefits the local Himba community. Bookings to be done at the falls.
