Okaepe Living Museum

Mrs. Rukero's project has the purpose to support the school in Okaepe and the rather poor community.

On offer are guided tours of the village, theatre and dance performances by pupils and teachers, visits to school classes, demonstrations of the making of sour milk, cattle breeding, participation in a traditional wedding ceremony, Holy Fire ceremony and much more. Many opportunities to chat with the very friendly and communicative villagers. And encounters with the San (Bushman) culture including a visit to a San settlement are also possible.

All tours and demonstrations are conducted in English. The fees are very moderate. They go directly to the benefit of the community. A visit should be booked in advance with Mrs. Rukero.

Directions to Okaepe: From Okakarara take the D3822 direction Coblenz. After 4 km turn right to the D3805 Pad. After 31 km turn left onto the D3801. After 19 km you will see Okaepe on your right. The white school building is ca 100 m from the road and can't be missed.
