Hentiesbaai (Henties Bay)

Driving north from Swakopmund along the scenic coastal road C34 you will get - after 72 kilometers - to the holiday village of Henties Bay situated at the mouth of the Omaruru River. In 1929 Major Hentie van der Merwe from Kalkfeld discovered a sweetwater fountain and from then on spent all his holidays here. Over the following years friends joined him and so, slowly, a holiday resort evolved, today counting almost 3000 permanent residents. Durung holiday seasons thousands of visitors join them, mainly from South Africa.
