Desert Express – Windhoek / Swakopmund
Every once in a while, a small inner voice tells us it is time to get away from it all. Where better than to the vast open spaces of Namibia? Aboard our luxurious train you can experience your own African dream while travelling in comfort and style through savannah, bushveld and the world's oldest desert, the Namib...

Desert Express differs from other tourist trains in that it is highly modern, featuring all the conveniences and luxury a traveller could ask for, while maintaining friendly Namibian hospitality and excellent service. There are 24 fully air-conditioned compartments, in 4 sleeper coaches, each with its own en-suite facilities. Each compartment converts to a private lounge during the day and can accommodate up to three passengers.

After departing Windhoek in the early afternoon, Desert Express heads north until it reaches the Otjihavera Siding. Here you will be taken to the luxurious Okapuka Game Ranch to experience the excitement of watching lions feed only metres away. When you're back on board, Desert Express continues its westward journey. Enjoy the sunset over the open vastness of Namibia in the Spitzkoppe Lounge or through the large observation windows of your compartment. In the Welwitschia Restaurant, a sumptuous three-course dinner awaits you. The train stops for the night at a quiet siding. Next morning, Desert Express continues westward into the desert and among the dunes between Swakopmund and Walvis Bay. Here, there's an one-hour stop to allow passengers to disembark and take a walk - the dunes of the Namib are unique. The train then proceeds to its final destination, Swakopmund, where it will arrive at approx. 10:00.
