 Tiras MountainsSouth-west of Helmeringhausen between C13 and D707 lie the Tiras Mountains, largely unknown to general tourism. The bizarre massif of dark granite borders a wide plain and is very impressive. A couple of farms have joined to form the Tiras Mountain Conservancy. They offer mountain hikes, camping and accommodation on a small scale.

House of Joseph FredericksIn Bethanien the momentous contract between Adolf Lüderitz and the Nama Elder Joseph Fredericks was signed on the 1st of May, 1889. More detailed information on our Luederitz Info page. This building falls under monument protection and is open to visitors on weekdays from 8am to 5pm. It lies in David Fredericks Street. Tel 063-283059.  Helmeringhausen80 kilometres north of Bethanien lies the small place Helmeringhausen. Besides a store, petrol station and a hotel, there is also an open-air museum exhibiting agricultural equipment from colonial times, for example, a water drilling machine; of greatest importance to the farmers of that time.
