Caprivi Game Reserves : Visitor Information and Accommodation
|
Bwabwata National Park The passage on the Trans-Caprivi-Highway (B8) does not require a permit. There is no accommodation in the park area except for private lodges. If you visit the west of the Mahango Game Park, you can sleep over at the campsite at the Popa Falls.
C49 Road to Katima Mulilo This untarred alternative road leads along the Linyanti River (in the north called Kwando and in Botswana Chobe) to the National Parks Mudumu and Mamili and further to Katima Mulilo. Also east of Mamili this is a very scenic route. The road has some rough patches (corrugated, sandy), but outside the rainy season it is manageable in a normal car. A four-wheel drive would be more comfortable, though.
Mudumu National Park This park lies in the Eastern Caprivi. Turn on to the C49 near Kongola to the south. To visit the National Park a 4x4 is required, because the tracks are sandy and in parts muddy, especially from December to May. At the park entrance one has to pay a conservation fee of N$80 per person plus 10 N$ for the vehicle. No accommmodation in the park, but beautiful private lodges in the vicinity. |

Mamili National Park The access to this National Park is also the C49. Some kilometres east of the settlement Sangwali lies the entrance to the park. A 4x4 is necessary. During the rainy season from December to May one should not visit this park at all. At the entrance one has to pay a conservation fee of N$80 per person plus N$10 for the vehicle. The park has 2 plain campsites, Nzalu and Lyadura. These camps offer no service. Visitors must provide for themselves. There are some beautiful private lodges in the vicinity.
