They offer combined flight and 4x4 safaris to the Skeleton Coast high up into the western Kaokoveld. The lonely coastal areas with the mysterious Roaring Sands and unusual rock formations of the Ugab valley are highlights. the mysterious "humming dunes", the extraordinary rock formations of the Ugab valley, where black mountain chains in the background contrast with the blinding white desert, the red lava and the yellow sandstone formations of the Huab area, very old rock engravings, a visit to a village of the Himba, who still lead a traditional nomadic life and dress in their traditional way, and the impressive landscapes of the Hartmann valley, which leads up to the Kunene river. Major Hentie van der Merwe from Kalkfeld discovered a freshwater spring in 1929 at the Omaruru mouth and ended up spending all his holidays there. Friends joined him over the years and subsequently the holiday village of Hentiesbaai evolved, which today, consists of almost 3000 permanent inhabitants. During the school holidays, the number of people (mainly from South Africa) increases considerably.
Henties Bay is an angler's paradise and is completely dedicated to fishing tourism. The Henties Bay Angling Club organises two big competitions in December. Tour operators offer shark fishing and angling tours on a boat. Professional advice, bait, cleaning of the fish and deep-freeze service are free of charge in Hentiesbaai! The Omaruru River Trail (20 km) or the Jakkalsputz Trail (18 km) is a must-do for keen hikers. There is even a 9-hole golf course in Hentiesbaai, with sandy fairways in the old riverbed of the Omaruru. You see, there is a lot to do in Henties Bay.Skeleton Coast National Park
The gate to the park lies at the Ugab rivermouth. You must have entered the park at 15h00 latest and, if you don't stay overnight in Terrace Bay, leave before 17h00.

Ugab River
Guided Hiking TrailThe park offers a 3-day guided hike through the canyon of the Ugab Rivier an, for at least 3 and maximum 8 participants. Costs: 220 Rand per person. Bring your own equipment and provisions. A medical bill of health is required and early booking is necessary.
