Ombo Ostrich Show Farm
Directly on the B1, two kilometres north of town, lies the Ombo Ostrich Farm. Here you can have great fun learning everything woth knowing about ostriches and their breeding habits. You can also see emus, dancing ostriches, crocodiles and others. Tel: 062-501176.

Von Bach Dam Resort
This nature and game park, 43 sqkm in size, lies 5km south of Okahandja and surrounds Windhoek's main water reservoir. The park is very popular with watersports enthusiasts from Windhoek and can be quite lively over the weekends. There is a camping ground and plain huts. Reservations: Tel ++264-(0)61 285 7200.

Travel Information for Gross Barmen

Gross BarmenThe Hot Springs of Gross Barmen are particularly popular with the Namibians themselves. The 65 degree celsius healing water smells of sulphur and is very rich in minerals. It has been cooled down to 41 degrees and is channelled into an indoor pool. There is also a big outside swimming pool with 30 degree celsius water plus a splash pool for kids.

The thermal spa lies amidst beautiful nature on a little dam that is bordered by thick reed stands. Here one can go for beautiful walks and enjoy the rich birdlife.

The park is open all year round, daily from 7h00 to 23h00. There is accommodation in nice bungalows for self-caterers with one or two bedrooms and a camping ground available. Booking is recommended. Gross Barmen is accessed from Okahandja on the C87 (25km). Reservation of accommodation is done directly.
